Description	Very first receipt for the first student, Jennie Ward, at the Kansas Normal School - Western Branch, in Hays Kansas, dated June 23, 1902. The school later became Fort Hays State University. Signed by Principal Picken. Tuition cost $5.00, or $134 in 2011 Consumer Price dollar values, but nearly $600 in unskilled 2011 wages, and $3560 as a relative share of GDP. A bargain by many standards.
