About this collection

The Plymouth Schoolhouse on the FHSU Campus is a living history of one-room schoolhouses that once dotted Central and Western Kansas. Amongst the many period items housed in this limestone building are Burton’s Perfect School Register and Crane’s Complete School Register. These registers are original to Plymouth Schoolhouse and date from 1916-1924 and 1918-1926, respectfully. They chronical the names, ages, attendance, and gradation of the students attending the schoolhouse. Additionally, a Sunflower School District Clerk’s Record book from Cheyenne County, Kansas, dated 1943-1946, was donated to the schoolhouse. This record book records receipts, reimbursements, cash balances, and schoolboard meeting notes. These registers add to the rich history of the Plymouth Schoolhouse.
